We have gotten worried enough about security that we have installed a cctv system (now totaling 8 cameras, both inside and out). Here is a lower-quality sample of the video we get.

Where is this?

how much did that 8 camera system cost you? did you install it yourself?
Well, I cobbled it together with pieces I got off of ebay and 2 dvrs I bought from gadspot . I put in my own HDs.
Overall, the DVRs cost about $400 plus hard drives (maybe another $100), and the cameras depend upon what kind of deal you can find on ebay, and what quality you are looking for.
I think I spent around $300 on cameras, but you could spend more (or less) depending upon your needs.
I like the Sony CCD cameras, and get backlight compensation for sure.
That is awesome quality for cctv.
Mid-quality IR enabled camera with Sony CCD.
I am sold on Sony CCDs vs. Sharp, although not passionately so. Probably the fact that the CCD is 1/3″ vs 1/4″ matters more, and that the electronics behind the camera are quite decent matters more.
By the way, the DVR is just a low-budget AVtech unit that is networkable. W/O hard drive it can be had for next to nothing at gadspot.
I think this link goes to a newer model, since mine I think is a 1600 not 1800.
Here in the UK a decent face shot is essential,if the footage is gonna be used in court.Low quality cctv is entertaining but it won’t get the criminal convicted.
As it should be. We have the interior of our house set up so we should get high quality face shots. The exterior is more for generalized deterrent factor and evidence gathering, not in expectation that it alone could convict anyone.
great cctv
what model is the camera?
Good cam you should add one inside the door for a face shot of any potential crooks
