I recently took on the challenge of fixing a friends dvr system that would not turn on. I traced the source of his problem to the motherboard using my multi meter. Anyways, after weeks of trying to discover the actual maker of the pci card inside his system I finally found that Comart Security being the main supplier. The card itself states Hicap100, a 16 channel card. After finally successfully installing the drivers and having all the drivers show up properly in device manager, the software was going smooth. Then I get a pop-up "board id mismatch, must purchase license" Comart told me I would have to contact "EmStone" the maker of the dvr itself. I have never encountered so much trouble before. Please, does anyone know of a solution. I`ve tried Lux-Riot and it can not seem to locate my camera like its not installed. Argus software found the camera immediately, but with errors. I installed ffdShow for the codecs but still no picture. The manual can be found here :http://www.comartsystem.com/EN/ . If someone would please ease my mind and tell me all hope is not gone. I figure if all drivers show up properly, then I should be good to go. There has to be a universal solution to this matter. Please.
I mean you see on the news a robbery or B&E and the quality of the video is so low. Most of the time you cannot make out the face or clothing.
Why is the security or surveillancecamera the picture quality so low.And what makes a camera take good pictures in the dark?
What storage device do they use to store it?
While giving a speech at Cambridge University, China’s Premier Wen Jiabao had a shoe thrown at him by a protester in the audience. This is the CCTV news report the next day after the government first censored news and discussions on China’s internet about the incident. More information @ www.chinasmack.com
www.theiphoneguru.net The other day I was way from home and my house alarm went off. I couldn’t get home to check it and it was driving me nuts. Thankfully a family member was nearby and was able to go check on the house for me. But this got me thinking, if it happens again, what’s the easiest way for me to check on what’s going on without waiting for a neighbor or the alarm company to check it out. I had a couple of webcams, a computer and my iPhone and I thought surely I can figure out a way to use these to see whats going at home from wherever I am. Here’s what I came up with… You can view the whole post here with download links for the software I used www.theiphoneguru.net
We purchased a home security security system from APX in June. They have done nothing but charge different amounts than promised at different times in the month, messing up our family’s finances. We are at the point of canceling the service and contacting the better business bureau!
Any suggestions?
At this point, I am more worried what being overdrawn will do to my credit, than what breaking contract with them will do.
The bank is working with us to dispute unjust charges.
I currently have had cable TV service with Charter Broadcasting Network for 10 years and have not and still do not have DVR service in my household. I wish to get a TiVo DVR premier system (http://www.amazon.com/TiVo-TCD746320-Premiere-DVR-Black/dp/B0036OR910/ref=sr_du_1_map?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1296011811&sr=1-1). I also have a couple requirements that I do not know if TiVo meets. I want to be able to set my TiVo – or other DVR system that I end up buying – to record shows when I am not home, through my iPhone or through my laptop. I also want to be able to watch shows recorded by my DVR on my computer through my network connection. I do NOT, however, wish to subscribe to anything with TiVo. I only want to record and watch TV I have through Charter, not any movies from the internet that TiVo can offer me. I do NOT wish to switch to Dish Service (yet), so please dont recommended that I do. If anyone can refer me to a service that works with Charter that has all or some (in that case, which ones?) of the features I want to use my DVR for.
I do not record HD television, so I don’t need more than 80 GB of space.
About the fee you guys are talking about related to the premier TiVo, is it just a year, mandatory for 2 years, then you can cancel, or do you have to have the service to use the actual TiVo hardware (essentially I have to pay per year forever). And about the cable card that was mentioned, do I HAVE to have the cable card from charter in order to use the TiVo, and if yes, do they charge me every month/year for the card or is it just free?
We are looking for a major brand home security system like ADT, Brinks, etc, but would like a remote for the system if possible. Like a car remote. Do any of the major carriers make something like this?
