I am in California and I am in charge of putting up security cameras in the office.

i have been unemployed now for over a year and can’t afford to pay some bills like my home security system. the door-to-door salesman was able to sell me on the 5 year contract. of course, i didn’t know at the time i would lose my job a year later. i don’t know what my options are, especially since there are other bills to keep up with. I am designing a DVR/PVR system and this question is therefore posed for common users of Digital TV (Something like TiVO) technology. I am looking for more insights on what would people prefer as some important aspects that you feel are important while using this technology that could improve your overall experience.

For Example:

I like that I can pause or play live TV.
or
I like that I can record a series of episodes of my favourite program in a single operation.

He uses something now that only updates every 20 seconds or so and isn’t very smooth. He needs something that will run easily.

Newly released surveillance video of last Thursday’s gas pipeline explosion in San Bruno, California reveals the frightening moments those nearby experienced when a natural gas pipeline blew up into a fireball in a residential neighbourhood. One video, released by the Econo Gasoline station a few blocks from the explosion captured the moment the huge fireball first burst into the air. Thursday’s blast and fire destroyed nearly 50 homes and damaged dozens more. Four people were killed, four remain missing and at least 60 were injured.

It is screwed into the power outlet so it cannot be accidentally knocked out. It has a backup battery on the left panel. The key fob has a four function buttons (away, disarm, home & status). You can setup the alarm system to disable the motion sensors in the home mode and it gives you other options for door delay on entry or exit. The alarm system has a woman’s voice to speak the status of the system (arming away disarmed, back door open, front door closed, etc.) You can use the keypad to enter you security code. Or use your key fobs if they are paired to you alarm system. Every alarm sensor is wireless (glass break, door & window contacts & motion sensors). They use the CR123 lithium batteries and have an excellent shelf life of 10+ years. The sensors have not needed the batteries replaced after 2+ years. The last systems also used the CR123 batteries and they didn’t need changed after 10+ years. Every door & window has sensors. We have the 85 lbs. pet immune motion sensor. Glass break sensors on each level of the house.
